Buchan - Born to Shine

"I look forward to maintaining the highest degree of excellence on behalf of all my students ..... and ... I look forward ... to grooming stars of the future." - Buchan Quek

"It is a rare combination for a teacher to also be an outstanding performer. Buchan possesses both gifts in abundance" - Maestro Tedd Joselson

Buchan is credited with building a galaxy of young "stars" that illuminate the Singapore music scene with their light. Watch out for her upcoming joint concert with her student Geok En-Ting, on July 5, 2009 at the Alliance Francaise Theatre, featuring Liszt's B minor Sonata and Chopin's Sonata No. 3 in B minor.

Writeup on Bertram Wee's Recital - Congratulations (again)!

13th, 14th December 2008

Alliance Francaise de Singapour, Theatre

The Alliance Francaise de Singapour housed two days of a remarkable hour and a half that seemed to arouse the audience to clamor for more; both days, their faces brimmed with amazement.

16-yr old Bertram Wee delivered extraordinarily. The music sang to expose the musician's vulnerability, conveying feelings and making pictures with interpretations that were astonishingly new yet alluring.

The first half of the recital exhibited playing that proved excitement. The manner in which Bertram's fingers attacked the piano with fervor; one would not fail to tell the depth of his passion. Then, the intermission settled the hall for composition that Bertram construed keenly with his touch, evidence of his unfettering ability to convey variety in his endeavors.

Laced with unfamiliar sounds that appealed with its unique flavor, Bertram Wee In Recital was definitely a spectacular one never to miss!
